vechta

Two weekends ago I traveled to visit my cousin Catherine and her family in Vechta, a small town in northwest Germany. It was a bit of an impromptu trip, but it was so nice to unexpectedly be around family. I think when you're away from family for a while you tend to forget what it feels like to be with people that truly love you. I had such a nice time hanging out with her two precious girls, taking in some of the German culture, and eating all the delicious food she made! It was almost like being home, and it felt good. My cousin has the cutest house, and even cuter backyard. I snapped these photos of the backyard when the girls were at school and all was quiet in the house. The little shed is a place for storage at this point, but eventually there are plans to make it a space for summertime entertaining. I can't even imagine how lovely it will be! Catherine definitely is one "Humburg Grandkid" that was blessed with the gift of creativity.

On the subject of family, it is my Dad's birthday today! It's hard to put into words how much my Dad means to me. He is the funniest and the most encouraging person I know. We have a great relationship and truly have a good time when we are together. He has been so supportive during this time in my life, and I know he is praying that the right doors open as I continue on this journey. Happy birthday, Dad! Love you so much!
